Salty + Sweet… Silly + Serious… Sunrise + Sunset

Sarah McGinnis Photography

Small-town girl, with a big time dream…

Hi hi hi! I’m Sarah and I am beyond ecstatic that you are here visiting me. I am from a small town in Upstate, NY who has captured endless amounts of memories for people just like you! I haven’t always had this business of mine. On my 15th birthday, I was gifted a job application to a company called Wegmans. Little did I know, that I would continue to work there for the next 15 years of my life.

As I grew in the company, I met some of the nicest, hardworking, intelligent people. I worked many jobs that included being a cashier, slicing deli meat, working events, training over 100 employees in the Pharmacy department and concluded with working in the e-commerce department. Although I was set for a successful career within the company, I  just knew in my heart that the Corporate lifestyle wasn’t for me and I was meant to do much more with my life. So I decided to leave and pursue my passion for photography full time.

Fast forward to now, I have been a professional photographer for 6 years and love to serve people through photography. Meeting new friends, traveling the world, providing beautiful art, and bringing visions to life has and will be my favorite job yet.

Your Micro-Wedding & Elopement Photographer

Photography has always been a passion of mine. Capturing moments in time through the lens of a camera brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I love being able to freeze memories and emotions in a single frame. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape, a candid portrait, or a unique abstract shot, each photograph tells its own story.

One of the things I love most about photography is the ability to convey emotions and evoke memories through a single image. A picture can transport you back to a specific moment in time, bringing back all the feelings and sensations you experienced in that instant. It’s amazing how a simple photograph can hold so much power and meaning.
Photography also allows me to see the world in a different light. I notice the beauty in everyday moments, whether it’s the play of light and shadow on a city street or the vibrant colors of a sunset. Through my lens, I capture these small details and turn them into art.

In a fast-paced world where everything seems to be constantly changing, photography helps me slow down and appreciate the present moment. It gives me the opportunity to pause, reflect, and savor the beauty that surrounds me. Each click of the shutter is like hitting the pause button on life, allowing me to preserve a moment that will never come again.
For me, photography is more than just a hobby – it’s a way of life. It’s a way for me to express myself, connect with others, and explore the world around me. Through photography, I am able to show others how I see the world and share my passion for freezing memories in time.

A Few of My Favorite Things

  • Iced coffee + Chai all year round
  • Animals of any kind (reptiles and bugs not included…)
  • I love to be outside as much as I can! Anything to do with hiking, capturing wildlife, sitting by a fire, watching the stars and moon, kayaking, etc. sets my soul on fire!
  • mountains > cities
  • leggings, oversized sweatshirts, messy buns – love to be comfy and cozy ALWAYS
  • Solo traveling and embracing every moment alone
  • I would rather spend my money on experiences, camera gear, food and good skincare
  • Old Fashion’s + whiskey
  • 222 and 23 are my favorite numbers

A Few of My Least Favorite Thing

  • I am amazed by the ocean, but also deeply afraid of it. There is something about not knowing what is underneath me that scares me.
  • Snakes. I love them for the environment but I have trust issues with them. You just never know when they might spring up and bite ya!
  • Weak stomach topics (broken bones, cuts, stitches) – I really might faint if you talk to me about any of these topics.
  • Chocolate – I love white chocolate, but milk or dark chocolate makes me super sick
  • Heights. Gosh I wish I wasn’t afraid of them, but I start to sweat, feel nauseous and tears develop when I just think about them honestly.
  • wet socks or getting the bottom of my pants wet – I think we can all say this just really is so annoying LOL
  • I might get some “are you serious or how” for these but margaritas really don’t do it for me. I don’t like tequila whatsoever and a salted rim just hurts my lips if I am being honest with ya. I am a whiskey gal 🙂

A Little (And a Lot)

About Sarah

I’m a small-town girl with a big-time dream

I started my business six years ago when I moved back home to NY, after living in Boston, MA, for three years. I moved to Boston for my job at the time, and although the city life was incredible and so much fun in my young 20s, it was time for me to move home and focus more on what I wanted to do with my life.

And that that dream is photography!

Photography has always been a passion of mine. Your memories are so important to me — and I want to make sure you can see and hold them forever. Capturing a moment in time that you can truly not replace is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly!

I’m beyond excited to be working with you

I am grateful and beyond thankful to be able to pursue my passion of giving the gift of memories. I am more than a photographer who clicks a button on a camera and delivers a few good images… I become your friend.

I help create timelines for elopements and micro weddings. I help you coordinate outfits for your engagement or family sessions. I button the back of your wedding dress and replace bobby pins for you in your updo on your elopement day. I hold jackets, babies, and diaper bags while still getting everyone posed and photo ready.

I cry with you. I dance with you. I care about you.
